ABOUT THIS TOUR

This is not a typical tour of Lapland as we are not a typical tour company. We strive to give you an authentic experience that you can't get anywhere else. As we open our home to you we invite you to discover the true colors of Finland.

Our venue is located on a private lake shore, 22km away from the lovely town of Rovaniemi. Surrounded by picturesque landscapes and postcard-perfect scenery. The tour starts with hotel pickup. We usually drive a minivan as we specialize in small group tours only, to ensure a private experience. Once we arrive at the destination we will start with the authentic wood-burning sauna. When we say authentic - we really mean it! Our sauna dates back to the times when it was used as a smoke sauna. You can still smell the smoke! However, nowadays we heat up the stones in a wood fire.

Once the sauna is ready it's your time to unwind. Listen to the fire crackling in the wood stove as the heat slowly rises from the stones. Sauna is the place of freedom where you can let go of the stress and immerse in the radiating power of heat. Our guide will teach you how to safely cool down, as you jump into the icy water in the arctic lake! Yes, we go Arctic lake swimming after a sauna session. In winter time you can also jump into the snow! Once you're cooled down, it's time to get back in the sauna. The process is repeated until you feel completely refreshed. This hot and cold sauna practice boosts your immunity and does wonders for your soul.

There’s a part of the sauna called the “air bath”, that great gasp after you leave the hot interior and fill your lungs with the fresh outside air. It is this refreshing after-effect with adds the final bouquet to the art of sauna. Sitting by the fire gives one a refreshing feeling at the end of the week and makes one look forward to bath after bath after batch.

After the sauna and swimming in the icy water, it's time for snacks. We will gather around the fireplace and enjoy refreshing snacks before we pack up and hit the road to drop you off at your hotel.

Frequently asked questions

(See all questions and answers here)
Q:

- I have gluten / lactose intolerance / other diet. What should I do?

A:

Please let us know your diet before or after booking your adventure. We will take into account your wishes and prepare the food suitable for you.

Q:

- When is a booking for a tour with Nordic Adventures confirmed?

A:

A booking is confirmed when you receive a confirmation email. If you think you have made a booking and have not received an email confirmation, please send us an e-mail with an inquiry through our contact form, and we will figure this out together.

Q:

- How do i pay for a tour with Nordic Adventures?

A:

You can pay through the internet, through our website. This is by far the easiest, safest and fastest way to reserve and pay for your adventure. You will receive a voucher as a confirmation via e-mail which you will need to bring with you for your trip. You will always get a voucher by email: REMEMBER TO PRINT IT OUT AND BRING IT ALONG OR MAKE SURE THAT YOU CAN SHOW IT ON YOUR ELECTRONIC DEVICE!

Q:

- Do i have to book in advance?

A:

There are a few different ways you can book our trips. First of all, you can book almost all our trips right here on our website. There is a booking window on each tour page and we do recommend that you book and pay for your trip there, preferably in good time as we keep our groups small and some tours tend to sell out.

If the trip you would like to book is not bookable online, you can call or email our office directly, the phone number is +358 40 744 2567. Another way is to send us an e-mail with an inquiry through our contact form. What we need to have is your name, how many people are in your party, where you are staying, a way of contacting you either an e-mail or a phone number and what tour you are trying to book.

Q:

- How is it best to be ready for a pick-up for a tour with Nordic Adventures?

A:

This is a nice question. We ask all participants to be ready from the start of the pickup time indicated in the voucher. Please be at your assigned location at the start time that you chose when booking the tour.

Here you should wait for your guide. Have your email and phone number listed with us so we can contact you if we run into any trouble finding you.

Q:

- How to dress right and feel comfortable in Winter?

A:

1. Start with thermal underwear and warm socks.

2. If it’s really cold, –20 or below, wear an additional fleece layer on top of your thermals. Another pair of socks, preferably woolly or thermal, will keep your feet warm.

3. Wear pants with thermal lining. Don’t underestimate the importance of a neck warmer or a scarf. Slip into your winter boots and do them up well.

4. Almost done! Throw on your winter jacket, put on a warm hat and thermal gloves. Don’t forget to tuck your gloves into your sleeves and zip your jacket ALL the way up

Nordic Adventures is happy to tell you where you can rent costumes if there is such a need!

Amazing experience, it was perfect for our family, we were looking for a sauna/ice-swimming experience, but having a 9 year old and 2 year old, our options were limited, until we found this trip. My husband and eldest daughter were able to do the sauna & swim, whilst I played in the snow with our youngest, there was also a lodge where we could go if we wanted to. Then we swapped and I had a turn! Finished off with delicious food and hospitality. Once in a lifetime experience, now ticked off the bucket list… but would love to do it again!

This tour was FANTASTIC!Booking was easy and confirmation of pick up times were clear. Our guide (Alex) picked us up on time and gave us lots of great information about the area on our way to the tour.We received a very friendly welcome by Alex and his wife to their home, the facilities were very authentic. The location was out of this world! The sauna was fantastic with lots of amenities in the changing area too like towels, flip flops, hot and cold drinks.Highly recommend the ice swimming then popping back into the sauna afterwards! We had 2 hours to dip between the swimming and sauna before a lovely lunch was prepared for us in the cabin with a warm fire.A 5* tour with 5* hosts - highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing! We were hosted by Alex & Tanya at their property for one of the best experiences we had during our trip to Rovaniemi.Alex collected us from our hotel in the city and drove us out to his family property were we were introduced to Tanya, his wife, who was so welcoming and genuinely seemed happy that we were there. We started with the wood burning sauna and when we were confident enough we embraced ice dipping in the families own lake. The snow as cold under foot on the way down to the lake (there were disposable slippers if you wanted them) and the frozen lake was SO cold but it was an amazing experiences and definitely got the heart going. We were in and out of the sauna and the lake a couple of times so we could fully experience this activity, and what an experience it was.Once we’re were finished we went up to the family ‘Kota’ where Tanya had prepared a light supper of traditional sausages, salad, homemade potato cakes and of course the obligatory hot berry juice (I really love the berry juice!). There were also cinnamon cookies for dessert if we wanted them. Alex & Tanya spent time with us talking to us about the area and all sorts of things, it was like being hosted by friends. This really was a well organised and professional excursion, run by two absolutely lovely people.Kiitos Alex and Tanya 🥰
