ABOUT THIS TOUR

Are you ready for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to witness the mesmerizing beauty of Arctic wildlife? Join us on a guided tour of Ranua Wildlife Park - the northernmost zoo in the world!

Imagine stepping into a winter wonderland where snowflakes gently fall from the sky and the crisp air fills your lungs. You are surrounded by the serene beauty of Lapland, where forests of tall trees and frozen lakes stretch as far as the eye can see. And in the midst of this peaceful landscape lies the Ranua Wildlife Park, home to some of the most majestic creatures on the planet.

As we pick you up from your hotel, get ready to embark on a journey through the picturesque forests of Lapland. Our comfortable minivans or small buses will take you to the park, where you will have the opportunity to witness over 50+ different animal species, each living in their natural habitat.

From majestic polar bears to playful gray wolves, owls, geese, foxes, lynxes, minks, and brown bears, you will get to experience firsthand the magic of Lapland's wildlife. With our expert guides leading the way, you'll see these magnificent creatures in their natural environments, doing what they do best - whether it's eating, grooming or simply lounging around.

As you explore the park, your knowledgeable guide shares fascinating insights into the animals' behavior and habitats. You'll learn about how they adapt to the harsh arctic climate and how they coexist with other species in this unique ecosystem.

After the guided zoo tour, you will be treated to a scrumptious buffet lunch, where you can savor traditional Lappish lunch and take in the stunning scenery around you. And that's not all - if there is time left, we will also take you to visit the official Fazer sweets shop and souvenir shops, where you can indulge in some shopping for souvenirs to remember this experience.

We specialize in small private tours, but if you're coming with a big group, we are more than happy to accommodate you all.

The Ranua Wildlife Park is nestled in an Arctic forest, an hour's drive from the town of Rovaniemi. In the summer, the forest comes alive with the sounds of nature, providing the perfect backdrop for this unforgettable adventure.

We understand that some of our clients may prefer to experience the silence and solitude of Lapland's forests on their own. If you are one of them, rest assured that we have got you covered! Our guided tours are designed to cater to everyone's preferences. If you prefer to explore the zoo at your own pace, you are welcome to do so. All the aviaries and exhibits are clearly marked, and you can read about each animal species in detail on your own. This way, you can take your time to admire the beauty of the animals and the surroundings, without feeling rushed or distracted.

So what are you waiting for? Join us on this magical tour to witness the wonders of the Arctic wilderness, and take home memories that will last a lifetime!

Frequently asked questions

(See all questions and answers here)
Q:

- I have gluten / lactose intolerance / other diet. What should I do?

A:

Please let us know your diet before or after booking your adventure. We will take into account your wishes and prepare the food suitable for you.

Q:

- When is a booking for a tour with Nordic Adventures confirmed?

A:

A booking is confirmed when you receive a confirmation email. If you think you have made a booking and have not received an email confirmation, please send us an e-mail with an inquiry through our contact form, and we will figure this out together.

Q:

- How do i pay for a tour with Nordic Adventures?

A:

You can pay through the internet, through our website. This is by far the easiest, safest and fastest way to reserve and pay for your adventure. You will receive a voucher as a confirmation via e-mail which you will need to bring with you for your trip. You will always get a voucher by email: REMEMBER TO PRINT IT OUT AND BRING IT ALONG OR MAKE SURE THAT YOU CAN SHOW IT ON YOUR ELECTRONIC DEVICE!

Q:

- Do i have to book in advance?

A:

There are a few different ways you can book our trips. First of all, you can book almost all our trips right here on our website. There is a booking window on each tour page and we do recommend that you book and pay for your trip there, preferably in good time as we keep our groups small and some tours tend to sell out.

If the trip you would like to book is not bookable online, you can call or email our office directly, the phone number is +358 40 744 2567. Another way is to send us an e-mail with an inquiry through our contact form. What we need to have is your name, how many people are in your party, where you are staying, a way of contacting you either an e-mail or a phone number and what tour you are trying to book.

Q:

- How is it best to be ready for a pick-up for a tour with Nordic Adventures?

A:

This is a nice question. We ask all participants to be ready from the start of the pickup time indicated in the voucher. Please be at your assigned location at the start time that you chose when booking the tour.

Here you should wait for your guide. Have your email and phone number listed with us so we can contact you if we run into any trouble finding you.

Q:

- How to dress right and feel comfortable in Winter?

A:

1. Start with thermal underwear and warm socks.

2. If it’s really cold, –20 or below, wear an additional fleece layer on top of your thermals. Another pair of socks, preferably woolly or thermal, will keep your feet warm.

3. Wear pants with thermal lining. Don’t underestimate the importance of a neck warmer or a scarf. Slip into your winter boots and do them up well.

4. Almost done! Throw on your winter jacket, put on a warm hat and thermal gloves. Don’t forget to tuck your gloves into your sleeves and zip your jacket ALL the way up

Nordic Adventures is happy to tell you where you can rent costumes if there is such a need!

Q:

- Do you provide transportation to your adventures?

A:

Most of our tours (please see specifications under each tour) include transfers from accommodation in Rovaniemi city area. It is included in the adventure price.

The pick up is usually 5-20 min before the start of the safari (time in your voucher). Transportation back is immediately after the end of the safari.

We try to provide exact pickup time one day before the start of the tour by email or text message/whats-app, which is why it is important that you provide your valid email and phone number when booking a tour.

Great outing

My wife and I had a truly outstanding day with our tour guide Robin visiting the Ranua wildlife park.Robin was punctual, an excellent driver and conversationalist, and provided us with interesting insights into Finnish culture and life in Finland. At the park, he took care of our tickets and then showed us through the park, highlighting elusive animals in certain enclosures, and also providing additional interesting commentary. He also managed to work some magic and the polar bear Venus even appeared. We both said afterwards that we had a fantastic trip to the park, and Robin certainly played a bit part in that. The park itself is well maintained and the animals have got spacious enclosures. The food was quite good too- Finnish buffet. Would highly recommend.

Great, but was hoping for more

So first, the guide, Robin, was cool and informative. He also helped us spot the animals which otherwise we would have easily missed.Unfortunately we didn't see many of the touted 50 spices at the park, including the big names, especially the Polar bear (Venus). We were told she might be depressed and doesn't venture out of her pen so much anymore since her husband/partner had died and her 3 offspring had been taken to other parks,We also didn't see any brown bears, grey wolves, lynxes or moose (the latter because our 4 year old was tired so we opted for an early lunch at the zoo). What we saw was beavers, a mink, wolverines, wild boar, voles and birds (several owls and a raven). The lunch was a buffet, warming Finnish food.Advice: Obviously it's more pricey with a guide but you need one to see the animals. We might have seen only half without Robin. Better without very young children too because there's a fair bit if waking in the cold.

Very good experience

Very good experience for the organization of Nordic Adventures ( guide +++) and for the park itself. If something can be improved, we would say that investing a bit more in the quality of the lunch is an option to be considered...

Nice

Nice tour. Tour guide shares some local tips with us. I highly recommend for travelers who don't have car or want to learn different culture.

Great experience with a very informative guide

Had a wonderful experience visiting the Ranua Wildlife Park! Our guide, Alex, was extremely informative with an introduction to Lapland, and gave us a lot of interesting insights to these lovely animals. We were in a group of 4, so we weren't rushed through any of the experience and had plenty of time to have a great lunch and visit the souvenir shops as well. Our only disappointment was that we were unable to see any of the brown bears or the Venus, the polar bear. The brown bears were starting their hibernation period, so I guess that's why we didn't see them. But overall, the experience was fabulous and the wildlife park is a must visit! From the various conversations we had with Alex, we realised Nordic Adventures also had a group trip for Aurora Borealis. When asked if we could be included for a trip they had scheduled for that evening, Alex was kind enough to agree and include us at such a short notice, and we were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights that night!I would definitely recommend and choose Nordic Adventures again!
